Do you know how to safely remove your disposable gloves? A task that seems so simple, but it really isn’t. For most individuals who do not wear disposable gloves daily and wish to protect themselves during this time of crisis (COVID-19), it is crucial to know and use good glove removal practices to avoid contamination.
Here is how to safely remove disposable gloves in a few easy steps:
-
Pinch and hold the outside of the glove close to the wrist with your thumb and index finger.
-
Remove the glove from the hand, pulling it away from the wrist and turn it inside out.
-
Create a ball with the removed glove and hold it with the gloved hand.
-
With the ungloved hand, slide your finger under the remaining glove, taking care not to touch the outside of the glove.
-
Again, remove the glove from the hand, taking it away from the wrist and turn it inside out.
-
Turn the second glove away from your body, leaving the first glove in a ball inside the second one.
-
Dispose of the gloves securely. Do not reuse them.
-
Wash your hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds.
