This training course is designed for workers responsible for conducting qualitative respirator fit tests as part of their job duties. It provides participants with a thorough understanding of respiratory hazards and equips them with the knowledge required to perform qualitative fit testing safely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
The course combines classroom instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on practical exercises. Participants will work with respiratory protective equipment and the tools required to perform qualitative fit testing procedures.
This training is based on the CSA Z94.4 standard.

About This Training
This course covers the fundamental principles of respiratory protection and the regulatory requirements associated with qualitative respirator fit testing. Participants will learn how to properly use half-mask respirators, testing solutions, and hoods required for qualitative fit testing methods.
Important: It is strongly recommended that you be clean-shaven in order to participate in the hands-on activities.

Review the legal requirements and current standards necessary to maintain compliance within a respiratory protection program, including CSA Z94.4.
Learn the core components of an effective respiratory protection program, including hazard assessment, respirator selection, training, and supervision. Participants will also explore different respirator types and how to select the appropriate device for specific workplace hazards.
Understand best practices for inspecting, maintaining, and storing respiratory protective equipment to maximize service life and ensure continued performance.
Discover the essential steps required to conduct compliant and effective qualitative fit tests, including preparation, testing protocols, and evaluation procedures.
Perform supervised qualitative fit tests to gain confidence and proficiency in the testing process.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a PDF certificate that meets both federal and provincial regulatory requirements. The certificate remains valid for three (3) years.
