CASE STUDY: SECURING THE ROOF OF A DATA CENTER
A data-center operator wanted to secure access and maintenance activities on its rooftop, a critical area due to the presence of ventilation units, HVAC equipment, and other technical components. Frequent movement by technical teams on the roof created a high risk of falls or accidents caused by unprotected edges and unsafe surfaces.
Our mission
SPI Health and Safety, in collaboration with its partner Delta Prevention, was mandated to design, supply, and install a collective protection solution around the rooftop perimeter to ensure worker safety during maintenance activities.
Implemented solution
Installation of Delta Prevention fall-protection systems (guardrails compliant with safety standards). This type of protection is recommended as a standard measure for data-center rooftops where regular interventions are required.
Deployment of warning lines with visual tags and secure rooftop access paths, enabling technicians to move safely without tripping over equipment or walking on fragile surfaces.
Use of robust, durable materials designed to withstand rooftop constraints (weather resistant and non-penetrating installation to preserve waterproofing integrity).
