Choosing the right chemical resistant workwear

No matter what industry you work in, the hazards associated with chemicals are always present in some way. Whether it is in the food, mining, petrochemical, construction or transportation industries, chemicals can be found in many places and in many forms.

Indeed, biological and chemical hazardous materials can be found in liquid, solid or gaseous form. A simple contact with a chemical such as anhydrous ammonia can freeze and burn the worker's skin.

Other chemicals can cause irritation, burns, skin dryness, cracks and redness. Too much unprotected exposure to chemicals can cause scarring or even death.

In 2019 in Canada, there were 1,175 work-related injuries associated with exposure to chemical(s). Unfortunately, there were also 28 deaths involving chemicals.

That is why it is important to equip yourself with waterproof workwear that will withstand the hazards of your job and your work environment. The comfort, but also the chemical protection offered by a waterproof workwear specifically designed for you is a luxury that very few companies can offer.

However, Natpro understands this need and wants to team up with you to offer you waterproof workwear adapted to YOUR needs. To do so, it is imperative to define your needs in terms of protection at work.

What level of protection is required?

You must determine the level(s) of protection you need. Natpro identifies the following protection needs:

  • Waterproofing against water
  • Impermeability against oils, greases and other organic products
  • Protection against chemical products
  • Fireproof protection
  • Protection against arc flash

You must therefore choose a waterproof workwear that will protect you from the dangers of your work environment. It is also important to take into consideration the level of visibility and lighting that your environment requires. Workers on construction sites with low light levels as well as roadside workers must have excellent visibility. For this purpose, Natpro makes it possible to add reflective strips to ensure your visibility.

No matter what level of protection you need, Natpro makes sure to understand your specific needs while offering you superior quality materials that will keep you well protected in all situations. You can count on waterproof workwear that are recognized for their performance, but also for their endurance.

Indeed, Natpro products are tested to resist the most difficult working conditions. Waterproof workwear must meet the necessary specifications of

  • The hydrostatic test
  • Tear resistance test
  • Low temperature flexibility test
  • Wear resistance test

Customized workwear?

Once you have identified the level of protection you need, it is important to consider the tasks you will be performing on the job. Understanding these needs may very well make you realize that customizing your workwear is a solution to consider.

Whether it is for extra protection, adding one or more storage pockets, or spaces for work protective equipment, Natpro will propose modifications specific to the tasks you will have to perform and the tools you will have to use.
