SPI's Medical Transcription Practice Earns International Distinction for Quality Processes

Atlanta-Based Firm Continues Improving Its Approach through Upgraded ISO Certification

ATLANTA, Ga., Apr. 8 - Quality Management teams from Software Paradigms International's (SPI) Medical Transcription business, which operate under SPI's wholly-owned subsidiary Inspinity, received the ISO 9001:2008 certification on April 4, 2009, placing the Atlanta firm among the world's first companies to comply with the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) upgraded set of quality process controls.

Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, ISO is an international standards body composed of representatives from various national standards organizations who set and publish rules and codes throughout multiple industries.

Inspinity's Medical Transcription practice received the network's most recent distinction from Det Norske Veritas, (DNV) a leading third-party audit firm in the Netherlands who conducted a review of the company's internal quality demands to determine compliance with ISO mandates. After its assessment, auditors from the Dutch company cited no process non-conformances, minimal areas for improvement and recommended SPI's BPO firm for the highest level of ISO certification.

The fourth and latest edition of ISO standards outlines specific requirements for Quality Management Systems that offshore teams must follow to receive the distinction, such as the effective use of tools, technologies and metrics during project implementations.

"The ISO 9001:2008 is one more way that SPI proves that our emphasis is on quality," said Sid Mookerji, CEO and Founder of SPI. "In outsourcing, oftentimes we see providers working too diligently toward availing the most cost-effective work and letting quality fall by the wayside. We know that the key to a functional solution is more than pricing, and at the end of the day, our clients are ultimately left with our solutions, which is why we demand that global standards steer the effort."

SPI received its first ISO 9001: 2000 merit in September of 2008, and in addition to its ISO recognitions, has achieved CMMI Level 5 v 1.2 certification, as well as accolades for its adherence to stringent Six Sigma process framework.

"The bottom line is that, while awards like the ISO 9001:2008 are feathers in SPI's cap, they mean much more to our customers," said Mookerji. "These distinctions give our clients the confidence of knowing that they're not only working with a qualified and motivated offshore provider, but that they've also partnered with teams that can surpass their own achievements."

ISO, or the International Organization for Standardization, is a network of the national standards institutes that coordinate that set system standards and publish the results.
