SPI Hires Retail Veteran
Des Martin Joins Retail Technology and Financial Solutions Innovator
Atlanta, GA (2010) - Des Martin recently joined SPI as Senior Consulting Partner, further extending the Retail technology and Financial Solutions provider's team of Retail experts
In this capacity, Des will apply his experience as a former CIO of U.K.-based retailer, Harrods, when the organization was significantly expanding and adapting the way it leveraged IT to provide greater value to the overall business.
"I can really help out CIOs because I talked the talk and walked the walk" said Martin. "I know what CIOs deal with on a daily basis, and I know how SPI's capabilities can provide real solutions to their challenges."
Des began his career in the 1970s with NCR, helping found its fledgling IT operation in Lagos, Nigeria. After his time in Africa, he returned to his native U.K., and until 1996, led NCR in various roles there and in the U.S before transitioning to start a Retail consulting practice, Actionable Intelligence Group.
Des then saw an opportunity to apply his consulting, CIO and veteran-perspectives to Retail through an opportunity with SPI, signing on with the organization in March.
Since then, he has collaborated with the world's top Retailers to implement solutions that marry performance with practical application and combine a tailored approach that fits the uniqueness of every Retail organization.
"What makes SPI different is that, on top of the fine tuning solutions to the level of customization and specialization organizations seek, we bring a multi-perspective, thoughtfully crafted answer that addresses needs head-on. Whatever your legacy or Retail challenge, we've seen it and have developed a state-of-the-art, customized solution for it. Every time."
Bringing Des on board is part of SPI's larger commitment to Retail and to the company's development of unique service solutions for these dynamic organizations. He joins a highly experienced team that includes Bill Blackstone, formerly of Federated Systems, John Cook, former Founder and CEO of audit recovery firm PRG-Schultz, and Sid Mookerji, SPI's CEO and strategist responsible for focusing SPI's technology capability on the Retail Industry.
