Retailers Flock to Ft. Lauderdale to Vendor Compliance Federation's Spring Conference

SPI and Hudson's Bay Company Present on Retailer-Vendor Collaboration, Workflow Efficiency

On April 12th, SPI held a breakout session in conjunction with Hudson's Bay Company entitled Improving Vendor Relations through Tradeflow OptimizationSMat the VCF's Spring Conference in Ft. Lauderdale.

The presentation, geared toward helping retailers gain operational efficiency and better collaboration with their vendors, provided practical measures to the audience on how retailers could achieve these goals.

"Collaboration and more efficient, automated processes are not ideas that are meant to live on paper," said SPI's VP of Sales, Americas, Jack Robinson. "These are high-demand priorities for retailers so we wanted to highlight the different paths they can take toward obtaining solutions for their departments today."

Hudson's Bay Company took the stage to speak on vendor relations from the vantage point of a fellow retailer. The Canadian-based retailer outlined its decision making process and how it arrived at electing where to introduce technology and workflow improvement solutions within its Finance Department.

"Whether it's avoiding vendor overpayments from the onset, allowing vendors self-service access to key information or delegating responsibility to trading partners for new item set ups, these are all opportunities for improving vendor relations and areas that are not yet nailed for the majority of retailers," said Robinson. "And that's why they're so important. Once they're solved, retailers will experience dramatically reduced costs, increased productivity and enhanced cash flow, and I don't know of a single organization, retail or not, that doesn't want that."
