SPI Launches ‘six sigma’ initiatives

Software Paradigms India Pvt Ltd, a Mysore-based software company, recently launched its “six sigma” activities. Besides L & T EmSyS, SPI in the first IT Company in Mysore to embark upon “six sigma” drive.
An ISO 9001-2000 company, SPI will now focus on bringing organizational and cultural change through “six sigma” initiatives, a press release from the company said. “Achievement of six sigma standards will help the company to have a niche in the highly competitive IT industry where quality is the key differentiate factor,” says Sid Mookerji, CEO, SPI. “The company aims at making each associate a green belt”. “Six Sigma” is a process improvement system that aims to eliminate defects in various processes of the company. The concept was born in Motorola in the early 80’s when the then CEO Robert Galvin challenged his engineers to achieve a ten-fold reduction in product failure in just five years. Since then a host of companies have used “six sigma” for improving quality, customer satisfaction and higher profits. In India, Wipro was one of the early adopters of “six sigma” in 1996. Since then Wipro has not only used it to improve quality but also bring other changes in the organization, it states.
