GETTING READY : Workers giving finishing touches to the mega IT campus, SPICity, in Mysore on Friday
Mysore : The first phase of SPICity, a mega information technology campus at Hebbal industrial area on the outskirts of Mysore, will be inaugurated on Saturday by Government of Karnataka’s IT Secretary M.K. Shankarlinge Gowda. Spread across 11 acres of land, SPICity is expected to accommodate 3,000 professionals in the two-lakh square feet built up area when completed.
The first phase of the project with a built up area of 60,000 square feet has a capacity to accommodate 1,000 professionals, said Sid Mookerji, Chief Exceutive Officer of Software Paradigms (India) (SPI), a home-grown IT company which is constructing the complex.
Director of Software Technology Park of India (STPI), Bangalore, B.V. Naidu will be present on the occasion.
Software Development :
Addressing a press Conference here on Friday, Mr. Mookerji said the new campus will carry out customized software development and maintenance, software product development and BPO activities.
To a question, Mr. Mookerji ruled out the possibility of expanding in India’s IT capital, Bangalore, because of the “congestion”. “The traffic scenario in Bangalore has worsened over the last year. Mysore is a better place to expand,” he said.
He hoped that the Government pays attention to the connectivity between Mysore and Bangalore by expediting the doubling of the railway line and upgrading the airport.
