Promote growth, but retain city’s charm

THE BIG QUESTION
Speak your mind – loud and free. As Mysore is fast gaining ground as the second IT destination in Karnataka, what are the measures town planners should take to improve facilities?
EXPERT OPINION
As deputy chief minister Siddaramaiah has pointed out, what Mysore needs is satellite townships to decongest it. As far as the IT sector is concerned here, facilities like network and connectivity are quite good. But I don’t want Mysore to be crowded. To avoid this, development of satellite townships is crucial. These townships should be self-sufficient. Otherwise, the heart of the city will become flooded with people. What authorities should plan is a township exclusively for IT sector away from Mysore.
Since Mysore-Bangalore four-laning is nearing completion and air connectivity is in the offing, we need to focus on the other projects. – K.K.Mookerji, MD, Software Paradigms India.
