Forum to build IT-image of Mysore

Mysore-IT Forum took its birth in November 2001. This was largely due to the initiative of the computer software major Infosys Technologies. Other players (about 15) in IT industry in Mysore have joined in creating the Forum with the principal objective of building Mysore’s IT image.

The Forum, now registered serves as a platform, informally though, on which the IT professionals can exchange and share ideas on the strategies to work individually and in teams towards the Forum’s objective.

The Forum members met recently in the premises of Software Paradigms, Gokulam, Mysore. Its President Prof. Shivaram chaired.

Defining the tasks short-term programmes, plan of action for each of these, identification of Forum members to be placed in charge execution have been adopted as the Forum’s method of functioning.

Asia Pacific and European delegations to explore business prospects for IT industry are expected to visit Mysore. The goal set by the Forum is to double Mysore-IT industry’s turnover every year during the following years. The intent is to check the migration of IT professionals by creating avenues for them to work here in unparalleled ambience.

Mr. Siddaratha Mookerji, CEO, Software Paradigms, said that interest of the government and the academia in participating in the IT industry’s growth in Mysore hold promise. However, in practical terms, infrastructure such as means of travel to Bangalore, communication such as telephone and satellite-based services, power sources and other conveniences for personnel must receive attention on priority.

These aspects of infrastructure must be provided on a war footing, he pleaded.
